Watching the film, Six Million Steps: A Journey Inward was interesting because it gave the story of hikers on the Pacific Crest Trail and even though long distance trails like that are similar it’s interesting to see the different geography these hikers experience. It is also interesting to hear about different experiences on the trail. The reason why people go on any trail always varies pretty drastically. However, the most common reasons seem to be; lost their job, lost a friend or family member, or they simply have no idea what they want to do with the rest of their live so they decide to go onto the trail to get away from things.

With people who go on the trail to
figure out what they want to do it does a pretty good job with helping to
figure out what they are going to do. The long days of just walking in silence
gives a lot of time for someone to think to him or herself and sort everything
out. I can’t remember his trail name, but there was one man who said that being
on the trail caused him to think of things he had never thought of before. Old
memories come back to their minds and they think of these things for the first
time in years.
Overall, it seems like the trail
allows a person to understand him or herself more than they had ever thought
possible. They have so much free time to just think about everything.
