Image and Pilgrimage in Christian Culture #2

Turner talks about his idea of flow where there is a merging of action and movement and this flow can encounter us when we are present in a liminal space. I frequently practice hot yoga at a studio close to campus, and for someone with a brain like mine this is often a hard practice because it requires me to focus on one intention. For me, my yoga mat tends to be a liminal space for me, a pilgrimage from where I am to where I want to be. My time on my mat is most commonly the pilgrimage I take each day. This is where my flow takes place because my mind is required to take hold of my intention while my body moves in comfort with my heart and soul. This liminal space is often a time where I am able to make sense of a long day, stand with purpose, or come to reasoning with why I find myself on my mat..some days it is mental, some days physical, and some days just to take peace in my world. This entrance into liminal space is only for a brief  time each day, but over the course of my two year practice I have found comfort in entering and exiting liminality and find flow with my mind and body.
