Phenomenology of Prayer post 2
Throughout the semester having read entries from this book I have found them a little harder to read. I think it's interesting to read about prayer and discuss it how we did during class. A quote in the beginning stood out to me, "Without prayer, religious sensibility would likely atrophy and perhaps die." "Prayer connects us to the divine, to something beyond ourselves and beyond immediate reality." I can see this to be very true with personal experience. I'm not sure what it is about prayer that makes you feel better mentally, maybe just because you're venting or letting go what is bothering you but it seems as if you really do feel connected to something bigger than yourself and can make you feel better, and stress less. Reading the excerpts from the readings can also give some piece of mind to a situation that one may be struggling through. I think that's why some people like to just sit down and read the bible, because it gives that sense of belonging and connected to a bigger entity.
