Experience in a Natural Setting #1
Ever since my family has lived in the house we live in now, there has always been this one, gigantic, beautiful magnolia tree right on the edge of my neighbor's yard. I remember when we first moved in, I thought it was the biggest, most magnificent tree I had ever seen. Its leaves and branches stretched the entire width of the side of my neighbors house, and its height easily made it to the top of the roof. This tree always had a way about it; a strong powerfulness to it, but still having a softness and beauty. As a kid I was outside whenever I got a chance; most of that time, was up in that tree. I climbed as far as I possibly could, and that was my quiet, happy place. I went there when I was upset, when I was happy, bored, just whenever I needed/ wanted to get away, thats where I would go Just the feeling of being so high up, so isolated to me, my thoughts, and just the nature around me, was more comforting than a lot of things in my life. I know it might seem weird, but being up in this tree and the feeling I got from it kind of fulfilled the need for relationships that were lacked in my life. That tree still stands to this day and it looks exactly the same as it did the first time I saw it 17 years ago. It was my sacred place.
