9/12/14 Natural Setting: Bats a Hanging

Today, I went for a walk around campus just to get some fresh air. It wasn’t like my other walks; it was 3 in the morning. I had never really ‘seen’ campus at night. I’d been out a night many times before, but this time was different. As I slowly strolled through the darkness alone, I noticed how beautiful campus is without all the people roaming it. I looked up and saw bats hanging from the construction of the Student Success Center, huddling together to keep warm as the night pounded them with cold. I realized for the first time that I had taken the wildlife for granted, thinking that it was only the students who lived on campus. There are many other life forms that call CNU Campus home. Just think about all the birds you hear in the early mornings! They call this place home too. They wake up every morning calling to their friends telling them how their day was and what they have is store for the rest of the day. All the time people go through the whole day thinking just about themselves, and they don’t care about what happens to anyone or anything else. You have got to remember that we are not the only living things on this planet and open your eyes to the rest of the world!
