Landscapes of the Sacred -1
I once wrote about my church “we take this whole judge not thing seriously.” I not only hold to that, but I think that my church embodies Lane’s "Ordinary as the Mask of the Holy” Of course, it’s easy to find a church in newport news and throughout much of Virginia. The problem I’ve always had with going to church, is that I never left feeling like a better person or feeling like I’d connected with the divine, even on a minute level. This changed recently, having been introduced to a place where no matter what people are accepted. I see this as a window or mask to the divine. I see the openness of the church as symbolism for love. After all, love is not how you feel about someone, it’s how you treat them. I have never been a place where I felt more clearly the Fascinans of the divine. I now have the struggle of identifying the tremendum in daily life, let alone church. Keep in touch, and I’ll let you know when I do.
