The Phenomenology of Prayer #1- Kenosis

So many times when we pray, we can view God as this vending machine. I remember growing up and always asking for things from God like to win a a soccer game or to do well on a certain test. But the idea of Kenosis is completely different. Kenosis is the complete emptying of your own will in order to put the will of God in yourself. I have tried to change my prayer life to a setting more like this. I pray that I would have the heart of God and that I would WANT to have the heart of God. The more that we spend time with him and realize more of what his character is, we will begin to pray for things that line up with the heart of God. This can prove to be challenging, but prayer can be powerful
