Matthew Arends -- Fasting

Though we haven't directly discussed fasting in class I have often tied the act with communication and pray with God. The Bible often depicts people going out into the wild and fasting in order to gain approval and guidance from God. Much like praying I think that fasting helps us live in a better/more moral way. I came to this conclusion when thinking about a conversation I had with someone about how they stop eating or eat very little when they feel they don't have control over their lives. The act of not eating shows dominance over bodily desires and the lessons learned can be transferred over to other aspects of life. I have often been drawn to this idea of fasting to gain better control over my life and my weak points of unhealthy urges of the flesh.

Until Next Time,

Matt
