Matthew Arends -- Landsapces of the Sacred II
The Sacred place is something that I have always thought about. Not by that name, but rather how certain places are very important to certain people while others simply think of it as any other place. I personally, as I have discussed prior, have several sacred places in my life. Such as the TATC cabin in the George Washington National Forest. It interests me greatly that people can close there eyes in be in a place hundreds of miles away and be happy even though they are just imaging that place. Also, the fact that a place can have such a strong hold on our desires and emotions is a curious thing that we as people can experience. It's thoughts like that that make me believe that spirituality is tied to creation, maybe its because God placed Adam in this world originally to tend to it and to care for it and people are drawn to that in nature. Though some places as Lane says, are Sacred because of the stories attached.
