Image and Pilgrimage in Christian Culture #2 Flow
Flow is the merging of action and awareness. Before the trail, I had experienced Flow only in sports setting. On the soccer field, whenever I would make a run on the ball or take a shot on net, my thought process was not about all the practice that had lead up to the game. I was fully in the moment, unaware of anything but my immediate surroundings. On the trail, I experienced this one of the last days when I spent an entire day hiking by myself and I didn't run into anyone. I went for almost 5 hours completely alone. At the end of the day, I realized that there had not been a single thought that had crossed my mind. Instead, I was fully focused on each step up the mountains and fully aware of my surroundings without analyzing them. It was a pure experience.
