Natural Setting I: Lake Royal

Upon returning home for Thanksgiving break I paid a visit to one of my favorite places in my neighborhood, Lake Royal. All throughout middle school and high school the lake served as a place of solitude and a place to run. I'm very familiar with the lake and its surrounding due to the fact that I have lived down the street from it my entire life so it's interesting to see how the lake has changed over the years. I return to the lake often because it's sacred to me and it chose me back in middle school when I came across a slightly hidden creek. At the creek, its very quiet and it somewhat "forces" you to slow down and pay more attention to your surroundings. Hearing the sounds of different wildlife creatures, the trickle of water flowing over the rocks and the rustle of leaves is definitely one of the more beautiful things I have experienced in my lifetime. I'm really thankful to live so close to the lake and to have stumbled upon the creek so many years ago.
