Outside Reading III

10/22/14
The Way Home

At the end of Hemingway’s book, the fish is eaten by sharks before the old man can bring it back home to sell the meat.  He comes back with only the skeleton of the marlin, and being exhausted he goes back home only to rest until he sets out to sea again.  This show how the old man received God’s message, giving the reinsurance he needed and he will carry that faith with him for the rest of his days.  Even though it is not a perfect ending, God works in mysterious ways and truly revealed this sacred place to another level that the old man finally realizes.
