Student Choice II- The Way
Over Thanksgiving break, I expressed my interest about the Camino to a family friend, who then insisted that I watch the movie, "The Way". Although I was not told what the movie was going to be about, I was unsurprised by the plot and the actions of the main character, Thomas Avery, played my Martin Sheen. Over this semester, we have learned about the many reasons why individuals go on long distance thru-hikes. The movie "The Way" was about a man who died on his first day hiking the Camino. His father then comes to Spain to retrieve his son's body, and he instead decided to spread his son's ashes along the Camino himself. The movie seemed to be very factually accurate from what we have discussed in class, and it clearly displayed a powerful motive that some individuals use to hike the Camino.
