Landscapes of the Sacred I

10/05/14
Molding of the World

In Lane’s book, Jose Ortega y Gasset believe where you’re from molds you into the person you are.  Lane’s interpretation of it is, “By this he implied that place not only has a way of molding personality, but it serves also as an anchor of human existence.”(Lane 20).  I can completely agree with this because people that grew up in the same areas have very similar values and tendencies.  The reason for this is because the landscape is able to connect to the soul and become part of it.  This explains why certain landscapes can be an anchor to people because it is part of their soul and leaves a part of it when they leave.
