The Phenomenology of Prayer II

10/02/14
Basics of Prayer

There are 5 elements of prayer which is praise, thanksgiving, confession, petition for self, and intercession for others.  It goes through how the writer is comfortable with four out of the 5 element when praying.  The one he doesn't feel comfortable with it praise which I understand because most of the times when praying you are thanking God or asking for protection for other, but praising God is not as commonly practiced.  However, this is probably the most important because it helps remind you as the prayer that there is a greater being over you and rejoice his presence that is everywhere around you.  It may seem a little silly, but it will provide another connection between God and you that you didn’t have prior to this.
